A symbol of Courmayeur

Count Giovanni Battista Gilberti, known simply as “Titta”, was a pioneer of tourism and skiing development in Courmayeur in the early decades of the twentieth century. His name is deeply linked to this small Alpine village, which under his guidance became a modern winter resort.

The wildlife of Mont Blanc

The hut stands in a place that represents the great wildlife diversity of Mont Blanc: its ecosystem hosts 48 of the 53 species “exclusive” to the Italian Alps, 75% of the species of the Aosta Valley and 80% of the species nesting in the region. The “Mont Blanc Nature” wildlife reserve operates in this area, regulating hunting permits and working to protect and safeguard wild animals.
