We are at the outlet of Val Veny, in the great valley that forms the central axis of the Aosta Valley region. Val Veny appears to our left, following the profile of the massif towards the southeast. To our right, instead, we see the Mont Fréty promontory.

Promontories

We are at the outlet of Val Veny, in the great valley that forms the central axis of the Aosta Valley region. Val Veny appears to our left, following the profile of the massif towards the southeast. To our right, instead, we see the Mont Fréty promontory.

Two valleys, two rivers

The two valleys are crossed by the streams known respectively as the Dora di Veny and the Dora di Ferret, which join near the start of this trail and give rise to the most important river in the Aosta Valley: the Dora Baltea.
